Departing Shot




We flew out of Austin yesterday at 6:20 am! Jen was (kind?) enough to (volunteer?) to take us in at 4:30am. We had picked up her car the night before so she could just mosey to work for an early start after dropping us off, but after trying to pack iall our gear into her car, the bike box would not fit to standards. So OSHA dismantled and repacked everything in my truck. Jen would just have to drive it for the day after delivering us to ABIA.

At 4:20 we waddled out to put in the final bags and WOW!! The truck had been 'friend-alized'! There was writing all over the windows AND tires :-) Blinky lights threaded through the door handles, confetti in the air vents and lies tied to door handles. The 'Sherpas left behind' had done it up nicely! (Now I know why the neighborhood skunk was in such a stinking tizzy about 10:15 the night before ;-)

Of course, our security cameras caught it all! Nice job, Biddle, Nan, Drew, Lisa, and Jen S. I know it was Jen S and not Jen A because Jen A now had to drive it all day!! Touché!

    I made a stop at Home Depot on my way home. And a couple of employees standing outside, asked me what was with all the writing. As I began explaining, it turned into a longer explanation than they needed (or wanted). They now know who Frieda is, and all about qualifying for the Ironman World Championship in Kona. :-)

Today - 25 years Ago. Kona Oct. 2013 May 13, 1989. Yup. The day we were married. River Place Country Club. Only a club and golf course back then. No houses. One road. Living Out Our Choices

My parents are now in their mid-80's. It is so odd for me to think of my parents nearing the last chapters of their lives. To me, my timeless memories of my dad will always be racing me on horseback up canyon walls that had my stirrups dragging the ground and my face buried in my horses main we were at such a steep angle; him pushing me down so I'd have to get back up to win a sprint across the yard with him; building a backstop so he could teach us how to connect with a baseball; and always telling me "If you're not falling, you're not learning." A Year of Living Present

 Be Present With Me God does have a sense of humor I'm convinced. There have been many times in my life I lift my chin to the sky and give Him a little wink. "HaHa. You knew what you were doing." He's wise like that, and me, sometimes not so sharp. Like my last name. Present. For years I joked, "...and accounted for." But then mindfulness became a thing and I almost had to say, "uh oh". What excuse do I have? Present. I'm going to stay away from the "being mindful" aspect. Let's keep this simple.
